Our Story

Hi! Welcome to Catholic Handmade!

We're Jessica and Joe and we have been blessed with four boys: John, Athanasius, George, and Freddy. We also have our little Francis in heaven praying for us.

It's so hard to sum up our story, but I'll try! Catholic Handmade started when I was a new mom, struggling to keep my head above the water. Motherhood and marriage turned out to be so much harder (and so much more beautiful) than I could have ever imagined. 

As a new mom, I had a lot of time alone and I found myself surfing Pinterest and craving to be a part of all the beauty I saw in other people's creativity. 

So one day I tried some watercolor painting. And I was hooked! The only problem was, as our family continued to grow, I struggled to find the time to paint and be creative. Joe was working hard at his job to provide for our family, but he often came home to me being frustrated and completely burned out after a long day with the kids. We both felt confused about the Lord's plan for us. We knew things could not continue this way.

Over time (years!), we felt the Lord calling us to lean in and trust Him more and more with how he wanted to provide for us, especially financially. And eventually this trust led us to become more intentional about trying to grow our own family business (Catholic Handmade!). 

It hasn't been easy to trust Him in every step. But the riches we have uncovered and the joy we've found in this new way of life have made every trial worth it. We feel so blessed that we can be together every day. Joe and I are able to help each other with the kids throughout the day. And even more than that, we have the freedom to slow down and to make time for prayer. This is everything!

We are still learning what it means to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. Thank you for walking with us on this journey to heaven. You are a blessing!
